Removal
1. Loosen the rear wheel nuts, jack up the rear of the car and install special supports, placing them under the frame side members. Chock the front wheels to prevent the vehicle from rolling. Remove the rear wheels.
2. Lightly raise the rear differential using a hydraulic jack.
3. Disconnect the driveshaft from the rear differential gear flange (see subsection 3). Remove it from the working area and tie the shaft to the elements located on the side of the underbody using a piece of wire.
4. When performing the procedure on a vehicle with rear air suspension, it is necessary to relieve the pressure as described in subsection 14 of chapter 10.
5. Disconnect the shock absorbers from the lower mounts.
6. Disconnect the ventilation hose from the fitting located on the bridge casing and tie it with a piece of wire outside the working area.
7. Disconnect the brake hose from the distribution block located on the axle housing. Plug the hose to prevent brake fluid from leaking.
8. Remove the brake caliper and disc (see chapter 9).
9. Disconnect the parking brake cables from the drive arms and brackets (see chapter 9).
10. Remove the anti-roll bar and rear suspension springs (see chapter 10).
11. Disconnect the transverse torque rod from the bridge, as well as the upper and lower rear suspension arms (see chapter 10).
12. Lower the jack located under the differential and remove the rear axle from under the car.
Installation
13. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. Tighten the universal joint mounting strip bolts to the required torque. Tighten all fasteners to the torque values given in Chapter 10 specifications. Tighten the fastenings of the brake system elements to the torques given in Chapter 9 specifications.
14. Bleed the brake system (see chapter 9).
15. Install the wheels and tighten the nuts to the torque specified in Chapter 1 specifications.
