Accelerator pedal position sensor (APP) — replacement

1. The APP sensor consists of two separate elements from which antiphase signals are supplied to the PCM. Based on these impulses, the RSM determines the position of the accelerator pedal to which the driver has moved it. The position sensor is one of the three main elements of the throttle actuator control system (TAS). The other two elements are the throttle body and the PCM. The design of the described vehicles does not provide for the presence of a throttle cable. The PCM unit compares the position of the accelerator pedal to which the driver moved it with engine parameters. The throttle valve is thus positioned in an optimal position via an electronic drive.

Replacement

2. Disconnect the electrical connector of the APP sensor (see illustration).



3. Unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the sensor.

4. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
