Manifold absolute pressure sensor (IDA) — replacement

1. Absolute pressure sensor (IDA) used to monitor the change in pressure in the intake manifold that occurs as the load and engine speed changes. Sensor signals enter the microprocessor as alternating voltage pulses, which can correspond to the closed throttle position (high degree of vacuum), and completely open (low degree of vacuum). Based on the sensor pulses in the PCM, the amount of fuel supplied is calculated, as well as the ignition timing is adjusted.

Replacement

2. Disconnect the MAP sensor electrical connector (see illustration).



3. Squeeze the sensor fastener, then pull and remove it.

4. Pull in a perpendicular direction and remove the sensor.

5. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
