The main purpose of the starting system is to ensure the rapid rotation of the crankshaft necessary to start the engine. The starting system consists of a battery, a starter and connecting wiring.
When the ignition key is turned to the START position, the control circuit activates the solenoid valve, which, when activated, supplies battery voltage to the electric motor. The battery provides energy to the electric motor, which, when performing procedures involving impact on elements of the starting system, must comply with the following safety requirements.
- A) Prolonged activation of the starter leads to its overheating and failure. The permissible duration of starting the starter is 15 seconds. After such switching on, before the next attempt to start the engine, you must pause for two minutes.
- b) The starter is directly connected to the battery, and if it fails, overloads or short circuits, a spark arc can form and a fire may occur.
- With) Before performing procedures involving exposure to elements of the starting system, it is necessary to disconnect the negative battery cable.
