1. Electric rear view mirrors have two electric motors to adjust the position in two planes (up-down and left-right).
2. The switch has a distributor that directs current to the left or right mirror. With the ignition switch in the ACC position (without starting the engine) and, having lowered the window glass, alternately move the left and right mirrors to various positions, controlling from the switch.
3. Listen to the sound of the servos operating.
4. If you hear the sound of the servomotors operating, but the mirror glass does not move, then the fault lies in the mirror drive mechanism. Mirrors cannot be repaired - if necessary, these elements are replaced as a whole (see chapter 11).
5. If the mirror glass does not move and there is no sound from the motor, inspect the corresponding fuse (see subsection 3).
6. If the fuse is in good condition, remove the control switch. Have a manufacturer or qualified service technician test the switch circuit for an open.
7. Inspect the ground loop connections.
8. If the mirror does not work after performing the above checks, remove it and check the voltage supply to the wires.
9. If voltage is not supplied when the switch is moved to any of the possible positions, examine the section of the circuit between the mirror and the switch for an open or short circuit.
10. If the presence of voltage is confirmed, remove the mirror and check its functionality by connecting additional wires from the battery. If functionality is not confirmed, replace the mirror.
