Replacement
1. Disconnect the wire from the negative battery terminal.
2. Set the gearbox to position "neutral".
3. Raise the hood. Disconnect the electrical and vacuum connectors of the economy mode system "Cruise control" (if there is one on the car). Remove the system to access the neutral switch.
4. Locate the wire harness from the neutral switch and disconnect it.
5. Turn away a nut and disconnect the selector from a transmission (see illustration).
4.5. Loosen the nut (shown by arrow) and set the selector so that you can remove the switch
6. Loosen the bolts and disconnect the switch (see illustration).
4.6. Bolts fixing the neutral switch (shown by arrows)
7. To install a new switch, align the flats of the shift rod with the flats of the switch and lower it onto the shift rod.
8. Replace the bolts (make money). If the switch is new and the stem has not moved, tighten the bolts. If the switch needs adjustment, leave the bolts loose and follow the adjustment procedure below. The subsequent installation steps correspond to the disassembly steps in reverse order.
Adjustment
9. Align the label on the switch with the internal label on the selector rod and tighten the bolts (see illustration). Some later models have a special adjustment hole. On these models, rotate the switch to align the adjusting hole with the hole in the selector, insert the socket 3/32" and tighten the switch bolts.
4.9. The outer mark must match the inner mark located on the selector shaft
10. Connect the wire to the negative terminal of the battery and check the engine start in position "neutral" or "parking".
