12.14. To remove any wiring connector, press the two tabs on the front and back of each connector and lift the connector up
15. Remove the fuel pressure regulator and fuel gauge cover.
Note. Do not remove the fuel pressure regulator gasket and fuel gauge caps; leave it in place to protect the castings from damage when removing the injectors.
16. Use a screwdriver and a prop (see illustration) to remove the injector.
12.16. To remove the injector, insert the tip of a flat head screwdriver under the tab on the collar on the top of the injector and, using another screwdriver as a support, carefully pry the injector out
17. Remove the top (more) and bottom (lesser) o-rings and a filter from the nozzle.
18. Remove the steel washer from the top of the nozzle.
19. Inspect the fuel injector filter for dirt and deposits. Also check for dirt in the fuel line and fuel tank.
20. Make sure the injectors are replaced with identical ones. Injectors of other models may fit the Model 220 TBI, but they may be calibrated for other capacities.
21. Pull the new filter onto the nozzle (see illustration).
12.21. Pull the new filter onto the nozzle
22. Lubricate the new lower o-ring with transmission hydraulic fluid, then place it on the recess in the bottom of the injector in the fuel gauge body (see illustration).
12.22. Lubricate the bottom O-ring with transmission hydraulic fluid, then place it on the undercut at the bottom of the injector
23. Install the steel back washer (see illustration).
12.23. Place the steel back washer on the undercut near the top of the nozzle
24. Lubricate the new top (bigger size) O-ring with transmission fluid, then install it on top of the steel washer (see illustration).
12.24. Lubricate the top O-ring with transmission fluid, then install it on top of the steel washer
Note. The washer and large o-ring should be installed in front of the nozzle. If this is not done, improper seating of the large O-ring may cause fuel to leak.
Note. The electrical contacts must be parallel to the throttle valve axis.
12.25. Make sure the tab is aligned with the notch at the bottom of the nozzle cavity
26. Install the fuel gauge cover and gasket.
27. Connect a wire to the storage battery.
28. With engine off and ignition on, check for fuel leaks.
29. Connect electric sockets to atomizers.
30. Reinstall the air filter, adapter and gaskets.
