Note. On vehicles equipped with a Delco Loc II audio system, ensure that the audio system interlock device is disabled before performing any procedures to disconnect the wire from the negative battery terminal.
This part of Chapter 2 covers the 3.8L V6 engine repairs performed on the vehicle. As in other six-cylinder engines of the company "General Motors" with a V-shaped arrangement of cylinders, the crankshaft is balanced by the flywheel, and the crankshaft pulley and counterweights are cast in the crankshaft.
All information about the removal and installation of the camshaft, balancer shaft, flywheel, crankshaft and engine cuffs, as well as the overhaul of the engine block and cylinder head are contained in part 2.3 of this chapter.
The procedures below apply to the case when the engine is not removed from the vehicle. If the engine was removed from the car and installed on the stand, then a significant part of the points from this part of the chapter can be omitted.
The specifications in this part of chapter 2 are solely relevant to the type of engine discussed here and the procedures described here. IN Part 2.3 of Chapter 2 contains technical conditions, which must be followed when performing work on the repair of the cylinder head and cylinder block.
