Removal and installation of the oil pump

Withdrawal

1. Remove the oil pan (see section 15).

2. Having unscrewed the oil pump mounting bolts, remove it from the engine (see illustration).



3. If the pump is damaged, replace it with a new one; it is not recommended to install an old pump or attempt to repair it.

4. To prime the pump, pour engine oil into the strainer hole while turning the pump drive shaft.

Installation

5. Reinstall the pump by turning the hex shank of its drive shaft so that it fits into the pump drive counterpart.

6. Having screwed in the oil pump mounting bolt, tighten it to the torque specified in the specifications given in this chapter.
