Note. Three different modifications of CS type generators are installed on cars. All these units are classified as non-repairable. Therefore, if the alternator fails, take it to a specialist workshop and have it replaced with a remanufactured one or purchase a new one from an auto parts store.
1. Disconnect the wire from the negative battery terminal.
2. Remove the V-ribbed drive belt (see chapter 1, section 21).
3. On vehicles with a 3.1L engine, remove the air filter housing (see chapter 4, section 8).
4. Remove an electric socket behind the generator. A wire coming from the battery is also attached to the back. Loosen the nut and remove the wire.
5. Turn away a forward bolt of fastening of the generator (see illustration).

6. Having unscrewed the rear mounting bolt, remove the generator extension, if any (see illustration).

7. Loosen the clamps of all wiring harnesses and remove the generator from the car.
8. Installation of the generator is made upside-down.
