Checking the condition of the axle boots (every 3000 miles or 3 months)

1. Axle shaft covers play an important role as they prevent dirt, water and foreign bodies from entering the constant angular velocity joints, resulting in damage to the joints.

2. Check boots for tears or cracks and check for loose clamps (see illustration). If there are any signs of cracking or leakage of lubricant, the boots should be replaced as described in chapter 8.
