Gasoline Evaporation System Check (every 30,000 miles or 12 months)

1. The system works so that "draw out" fuel vapors from the gas tank and fuel system, pass through an activated carbon filter and then incinerate during normal engine operation.

2. The most common symptom of a failed vapor recovery system is a strong smell of gasoline in the engine compartment. If this odor is detected, check the activated carbon filter located at the front of the engine. Also, check the filter and all hoses for damage or wear (see illustration).
