2. Excessive play of the steering wheel, as well as swaying the car on uneven roads and sticking at some point when turning the steering wheel should be an alarm. If you notice any of the above signs, you should carefully check the steering system and suspension.
3. Raise the vehicle and place it on stands placed under the frame beams. Make sure the vehicle is secured.
4. Check the front wheel hub nuts and make sure they are securely locked.
5. While working under the vehicle, check for loose bolts, damaged or loose parts, and worn rubber bushings on all suspension and steering components. Look for any grease or fluid leaking from the steering gear (see illustration), hoses and power steering connections.
14.5. Check the steering gear boots for tears or grease leakage (Each side has one cover)
6. Have an assistant rock the steering wheel from side to side while you check the steering parts for free play, chafing and binding. If the steering does not respond to the movement of the steering wheel, try to determine where the gaps have formed.
