General information about the electronic body level control system

Some vehicles are equipped with an electronic body level control system that adjusts the height of the body when the vehicle load changes. The system consists of an air compressor (see illustration), water separator, exhaust solenoid valve, compressor relay, height sensor (see illustration), shock absorbers with adjustable air pressure height (see illustration 9.3) and pipelines between the various parts of this system.

When the ignition is switched on and the weight of the car changes, the compressor automatically turns on; when the ignition is turned off or the weight changes, the solenoid valve, which is connected to the positive battery pole, is activated, depressurizing the system. A solenoid located in the compressor assembly acts like a pressure relief valve, limiting the maximum pressure to approximately 180 psi.
