Attention! Performing the following procedure on 1994 vehicles is dangerous! On these vehicles, the steering wheel is equipped with an airbag. Do not attempt to remove the steering wheel until you have read the airbag information in chapter 12. Failure to heed this warning could result in an accidental deployment of the air bag, which could result in serious injury.
1. If you are working on a 1994 model year, disable the airbag sensor and remove the cushion from the steering wheel at a workshop.
2. Disconnect the wire from the negative battery terminal.
3. On 1993 and earlier vehicles, remove the horn switch trim from the steering wheel (see illustration).
