Attention! This operation should not be performed on vehicles equipped with ABS, since special tools are required to properly bleed such brakes. Take the vehicle to a service shop or other repair shop that has the necessary tools.
Withdrawal
1. Raise the rear of the vehicle and secure it to stands.
2. Remove the brake pads (see section 5).
3. Carefully remove all dirt around the working brake cylinder.
4. Disconnect the brake hose (see illustration). Do not pull the brake line away from the working brake cylinder.
6.4. To disconnect the brake pipe, you must use a special wrench (box wrench) (brake pipe is indicated by an arrow)
5. Remove the working brake cylinder from the brake shield and place it on a clean workbench. Plug the brake lines immediately to prevent loss of brake fluid and contamination.
Repair
6. Turn off the valve of prorolling. Remove the cuffs, pistons, protective covers and remove the spring from the cylinder body (see illustration).
6.6. Details of working brake cylinder: 1 - bleed valve, 2 - protective cover, 3 - piston, 4 - cuff, 5 - spring, 6 - body of the working brake cylinder
7. Clean the brake cylinder with brake fluid, denatured alcohol, or brake cleaner.
Note. Under no circumstances should you use petroleum-based solvents to clean brake parts!
8. To remove excess fluid from the working brake cylinder, use compressed air and blow through all channels.
9. Check for scratches and corrosion in the cylinder. Fine-grained sandpaper can be used to remove small traces of corrosion and stains, but if these defects cannot be removed or there are grooves in the cylinder, the cylinder should be replaced with a new one.
10. Grease new cuffs with a brake liquid.
11. Assemble the working brake cylinder, making sure that the protective covers sit in place.
Installation
12. Position the brake slave cylinder in its original position and use a block of wood to wedge it between the flange and cylinder body to hold it in place (see illustration).
6.12. Use a piece of wood to hold the slave cylinder in place (indicated by an arrow)
13. Install the slave cylinder retainer over the latter using a 1 1/8" socket to set the cylinder in place.
14. Connect the pipeline and install the brake shoes.
