Note. This procedure only applies to vehicles that are not equipped with ABS.
1. The vacuum brake booster does not require maintenance, except for the periodic inspection of the vacuum hoses and housing. Early models have a filter that needs to be checked periodically and replaced if clogged or damaged.
2. Amplifier disassembly requires special tools and is not normally done at home. If there is a problem, it is recommended to use a new or factory refurbished amplifier.
3. Remove the nuts securing the brake master cylinder to the brake booster and carefully push the brake master cylinder forward until it comes off the studs. Be careful not to bend or pinch the brake lines.
4. Disconnect the vacuum hose where it connects to the brake booster.
5. Disconnect the brake booster rod from the brake pedal.
6. Remove the nuts securing the brake booster to the bulkhead of the engine compartment.
7. Carefully remove the brake booster and remove it from the engine compartment.
8. For installation, place the brake booster in its original place and tighten the fixing nuts. Connect the brake pedal.
9. Establish the main brake cylinder and connect a vacuum hose.
10. Before you start using the car, carefully check the operation of the brakes.
