Caution: Do not perform this procedure unless advised by the OBD. Cleaning of the system must be carried out at a service station using special equipment.
1. Turn off the ignition.
2. Remove the fuel vapor accumulator cleaning valve.
3. Tap the valve lightly on a clean, hard surface.
4. Check for carbon deposits from the valve holes.
- If there is no carbon buildup, reinstall the valve and run the system purge procedure.
- If there is carbon deposits, replace the valve and run the system cleanup procedure.
- If the purge valve is forced to be replaced, and there were no deposits in the old valve, diagnose the system without cleaning it.
