Location of unit numbers

Engine number

Engine identification number (VIN) located on the left rear side of the cylinder block (1) and usually consists of nine digits.

• The first digit indicates the engine option.
• The second digit indicates the year of issue.
• The third digit indicates the manufacturer.
• Numbers four through nine indicate the serial number of the engine.

Automatic transmission number

The number is stamped on the automatic transmission housing, in the place indicated in the figure.

Note: depending on the country of delivery, automatic transmission numbers differ from each other.

• 1. Year of issue (5 - 2005).
• 2. Automatic transmission model.
• 3. Automatic transmission type.
• 4. Factory (Y - Toledo, R - Romulus, 4 - Ramos Arizpe).
• 5. Date of manufacture (Julian calendar).
• 6. Switching.
• 7. Serial number.

Transfer case number

The number of the transfer case is stamped on the body of the transfer case in the place indicated in the figure.

• 1. Model number.
• A. First digit: 1 - single stage, 2 - two stage.
• B. Second digit: 2 - T-Utility, 3 - T-Truck, L-Van, 4 or 6 - K-Truck, Utility.
• C. Third digit: 1 - mechanical shifting, 3 - electrical shifting, 6 - automatic shifting, 9 - permanent four-wheel drive.
• 2. General room.
• 3. Serial number - date and switching code.
• 4. Low gear ratio.

Front axle number

The front axle number is stamped on the top of the differential case.

• 1. Broadcast code
• 2. Manufacturer's code.
• 3. Assembly date.
• 4. Switching.
• 5. Assembly time.

Rear axle number

The rear axle number is stamped on the right axle next to the differential housing.

• 1. Broadcast code
• 2. Manufacturer.
• 3. Assembly date (Julian calendar).
• 4. Switching.
