Withdrawal
Attention: read the notes and warnings in the chapter "Passive safety system".
Note: before disconnecting the steering shaft from the steering mechanism, set the front wheels to the straight ahead position and turn the ignition key to the LOCK position to avoid damage to the passive restraint system current collector.
1. Set the front wheels to straight ahead.
2. Fix the steering shaft with a pin installed through the access hole in the lower casing of the steering column.
3. Mark the relative position:
- between the bolt and yoke at both ends of the upper intermediate shaft;
- between the upper and lower intermediate shaft.
4. Turn away a coupling bolt of fastening of the lower intermediate shaft to the top shaft. Tightening torque 47 Nm.
5. Remove the bolt and nut (1) fastening the upper intermediate shaft to the steering column. Tightening torque 62 Nm.
6. Slide the top shaft down the bottom shaft until it comes off the steering column shaft.
7. Remove the accelerator pedal position sensor.
8. Pull the upper shaft towards the front panel until the shaft comes off the lower intermediate shaft, remove the upper shaft from the vehicle.
Installation
9. Install in reverse order.
