- frame damage;
- major damage to the body;
- impact on the steering column;
- deployment of airbags.
Examine the capsules on the steering column brackets. All capsules must be securely placed in the grooves of the bracket and not move when trying to remove the capsule by hand. Otherwise, the bracket must be replaced if it is bolted to the dispenser tube. If the bracket is welded to the pipe, replace the dispenser pipe assembly.
Check the degree of deformation of the dispenser pipe by measuring the distances shown in the figures. Replace the column if this size is out of range.

Remove the current collector of the passive safety system from the steering column. Visually check the steering shaft for the integrity of the plastic inserts (1). If the inserts are sheared, replace the steering shaft.
For any damage to the frame, check the runout of the steering shaft. Install the foot of the dial indicator on the lower neck of the steering shaft, turn the steering wheel. The runout should not be more than 1.60 mm.
