Note:
- It is very important to carefully read the relevant information on the application of safety measures before working on any components of the passive safety system.
- Always disconnect both wires from the battery before working on the elements of the passive safety system. Disconnect the negative cable terminal from the battery first. Never connect a battery with the wrong polarity.
- When installing new components of the passive safety system, the identification code of the new component must be recorded.
1. Symptoms of airbag system malfunctions are difficult to recognize. Always check for trouble codes before disconnecting the battery.
2. Carry out work on the airbag system no earlier than 90 seconds after setting the key in the ignition switch to the position "LOCK" and disconnect the negative terminal from the battery.
3. Even after a minor collision in which the airbag did not deploy, always check the lining surface and the condition of the sensors. When potholes, cracks, deformations, etc. are detected. replace the airbag assembly.
4. Never install elements of the SRS system from another car, use only new components.
5. Never disassemble the elements of the SRS system.
6. Do not expose the steering wheel pad to shock or strong magnetic fields.
7. When storing airbag modules, place them face up on a flat, stable surface. Never place anything on airbag modules.
8. Do not use an ohmmeter to test the passive safety system. This can lead to arbitrary operation of the system.
9. When carrying the airbag module, hold it with the padding away from you, this will reduce the chance of injury from accidental deployment.
10. Before connecting the connector to the passive safety system control unit, securely fasten the unit to the vehicle.
11. If at least one airbag is deployed, replace the SRS control unit.
12. Keep moisture, oil, grease and other substances away from airbag modules.
13. If one side airbag deploys, replace both side airbags and damaged parts of the seat back (frame, padding, trim). After repair, check that the seats work properly and the wiring is properly located.
14. Do not disassemble the SRS control unit and side airbag sensors.
15. If the side airbag deploys, replace the side airbag sensor.
16. Do not allow moisture, oil, grease and other substances to get on the passive safety system unit and side airbag sensors.
17. If the wiring is damaged, replace the wires, do not attempt to repair them.
18. Do not insert screwdrivers or other foreign objects into the connectors of the passive safety system.
19. Even if the airbags did not deploy in a collision and show no signs of external damage, they may have internal damage that could cause them to deploy spontaneously. Even after a minor collision, diagnose the passive restraint system in order to identify internal damage, if any, replace the defective components.
20. After completing the repair work, re-diagnose the system.
