General information about the transfer case

All-wheel drive models (4WD) equipped with a transfer case, which is installed at the rear of the transmission. Torque is transmitted from the engine through the transmission and transfer case to the front and rear axle shafts through the cardan shafts.

Most models use New Process 241 or New Venture NV241 boxes. On vehicles with a load capacity of 1 t and vehicles with double rear wheels, Borg Warner 1370, 4401 or 4470 boxes are installed. On parts of cars 1996 and 1997. NV243 boxes with electronic control are used (not covered in this manual), the design of which is not much different from the design of the NV 241 box.

Attention! The transfer case type and gear ratio are indicated on a metal plate mounted on the box crankcase.
