1. Disconnect the battery from the ground.
2. Remove the gearbox.
3. On vehicles with a cast iron gearbox, remove the bell housing.
4. On models up to 1995, remove the clutch release lever from the ball shaft, remove the bearing from the lever. On models from 1996, remove the clutch slave cylinder, remove the release bearing from the slave cylinder.
5. Check up a condition of the bearing which should rotate freely, otherwise the bearing replace. Do not wash the bearing in solvent.
6. On models prior to 1995, lightly lubricate the grooves of the clutch release fork with refractory grease (see photo).
7. On models prior to 1995, attach the release bearing to the clutch release lever.
8. On models before 1995, lubricate the ball shaft of the clutch release lever with refractory grease, and install the lever on the axle.
9. On all models, apply a thin layer of refractory grease to the thrust surface of the release bearing, at the points of contact with the fingers of the pressure plate diaphragm.
10. On models equipped with a cast iron crankcase, install the bell housing and tighten the bolts to the specified torque.
11. Before installing the transmission, apply a thin coat of high-temperature grease to the front of the mainshaft bearing housing.
12. Further assembly is carried out in the reverse order.
