1. Raise the vehicle.
2. Inspect the cardan shafts. In the presence of dents, cracks and deformations a shaft replace.
3. If traces of leakage are found near the transmission, transfer case or gearbox, replace the seals.
4. Check by rotating the wheel for noise coming from the hinges. Check the joint play by trying to rotate the flange and shaft (or driveshaft section) in different directions. Any noticeable play indicates heavy wear on the hinges.
5. Check up an inhaling of bolts of fastening of hinges.
6. Check for grease leaks from under sliding joints.
7. Check the tightness of all threaded connections.
