Attention! 1. It seems more appropriate to purchase a new block head than to disassemble, check and repair a used head.
2. Two types of cylinder heads are installed on 7.4 liter engines, - «open camera» And «closed chamber». The bottoms of the pistons corresponding to these heads are different. When replacing a cylinder head, make sure that the new heads are of the same design as the ones being replaced.
1. To disassemble the cylinder head, it is necessary to remove the manifolds, valves, rollers with rocker arms and related parts.
2. Removed parts should be labeled and stored in the order in which they were installed (see photo).
3. Compress the first valve spring with a suitable tool and remove the cotters (see photo). Carefully release the valve spring, remove the spring plate, oil deflector, valve rotator (if provided), spring and support washers. Remove the valve stem seal and remove the valve from the head. If the valve does not come out of the sleeve, then remove the shoulder around the groove under the cracker with a needle file or whetstone (see photo).
4. Repeat the same steps for the remaining valves.
