1. The fan of the cooling system is changed if the blades are damaged or deformed. The hydraulic clutch for turning on the fan on a cold engine, or at high engine speeds, is disengaged. Signs of a failing fan clutch are constant noise from the blades, vibrations, and silicone oil leaks.
2. Disconnect the battery from the ground. Remove the top fan shroud by removing the screws.
3. On models since 1996 with V6 and V8 engines of 5.0 and 5.7 liters, unscrew the nut securing the coupling to the pump shaft, on other models, loosen the nuts securing the coupling to the hub (see photo).
4. Remove the drive belt.
5. Remove the fan/coupling assembly from the pump shaft.
6. The fan clutch can be removed from the impeller for replacement by unscrewing the nuts.
7. Installation is carried out in the reverse order.
