Attention! The check should be carried out in a place remote from transport and people. Put the car on the parking brake and press the brake pedal.
1. The starter interlock switch ensures that the starter is turned on only when the clutch pedal is depressed (on models with manual transmission) or after shifting the transmission selector to Park or Neutral (on models with automatic transmission).
2. On vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission, try starting the engine at each selector position. The engine should only be started with the transmission selector in Park or Neutral. If the engine starts in any other position of the selector, then the blocking switch is faulty, or it should be adjusted.
3. On vehicles with a manual transmission, the starter should only be engaged after pressing the clutch pedal. Otherwise, the switch is faulty (the switch is located near the top of the clutch pedal, opposite the pedal lever).
4. On vehicles with automatic transmission, make sure the ignition key can only be turned to the Lock position when the transmission selector is in the Park position.
5. The ignition key must be removed from the lock in the Lock position.
