Coolant heater (option)

In very cold weather, 0°F (-18°C) or colder, a coolant heater may help. You will start the engine better and save more fuel when the engine warms up. Normally, the coolant heater should be turned on at least four hours before starting the engine.

How to use the heater

1. Turn off the engine.

2. Open the hood and unroll the electrical cord.

3. Plug it into a normal, grounded 110-volt AC power source.

4. Before starting the engine, make sure you disconnect and stow the cord so that it does not come into contact with moving parts of the engine. If you do not do this, the cord may be damaged.

How long do you have to keep the heater on?

The answer depends on the outside temperature, the type of oil you are using and a few other things.
