2. Remove the air filter.
3. Disconnect the high voltage wire and the primary wire connector from the coil.
4. Check the circuit with an ohmmeter, the ohmmeter connection diagrams are shown in the photo. If any ohmmeter reading differs from those indicated, then replace the ignition coil.
8.4 a. Wiring diagrams for an ohmmeter to test the ignition coil (on models up to 1995)
1. The ohmmeter should show infinite resistance in its coarsest range.
2. On the most sensitive range, the ohmmeter should show low resistance or zero.
3. The ohmmeter should show infinite resistance in its coarsest range.
8.4 b. Connecting an ohmmeter to test the ignition coil on models from 1996
1. Ohmmeter should show infinite resistance
2. The ohmmeter should show about 0.1 ohm
3. The ohmmeter should show between 5,000 and 25,000 ohms.
5. Remove the fasteners and remove the coil from the engine, having previously disconnected all the wires.
6. Installation is carried out in the reverse order.
