When the engine is running, engine oil consumption is normal. The amount of oil consumption depends on the driving style of the car and is determined by the load on the engine and the speed of the crankshaft. In the initial period of operation, oil consumption is slightly increased.
Therefore, regularly, especially before long trips, check the oil level in the crankcase.
Check the oil level with the engine cold, and top up if necessary. The oil level must be between the marks «MIN» And «MAX» pointer, fig. 41. Top up fresh oil through the neck closed with plug 5, fig. 41.
The oil level must not exceed the mark «MAX» pointer. Otherwise, the oil will enter the combustion chamber through the crankcase ventilation system and be released into the atmosphere together with the exhaust gases. On vehicles equipped with a catalytic converter, oil combustion products can damage the catalytic converter.
