Unscrew the nut on the lower contact bolt of the traction relay 5 (pic. 7-20) and disconnect the positive brush lead from it. Turn away screws of fastening of the traction relay and remove it. Disconnect the armature 4 of the relay from the drive lever.
Pic. 7-20. Starter details:
1 - cover on the drive side;
2 - sealing gasket;
3 - lever bracket;
4 - anchor of the traction relay;
5 - traction relay;
6 - «negative» brush;
7 - gasket;
8 - back cover;
9 - brush lock;
10 - «positive» brushes assembled with connecting rail;
11 - brush holder;
12 - stator;
13 - anchor;
14 - tie rod;
15 - armature shaft support;
16 - central gear;
17 - planetary gear;
18 - drive shaft with carrier;
19 - gear with internal gearing;
20 - sealing ring;
21 - drive shaft support with insert;
22 - retaining ring;
23 - drive assembly;
24 - restrictive ring;
25 - retaining ring.
Unscrew the nuts of the tie rods 14 and disconnect the rear cover 8 with the brush holder 11 from the stator housing. If necessary, the brush holder can be removed by unscrewing the two screws securing it to the cover. To remove the brushes with springs from the brush holder, it is necessary to remove the clamps 9.
Disconnect stator 12 with armature 13 and armature shaft support 15 from cover 1 on the drive side. Remove the central gear 16 of the gearbox from the shaft, remove the armature shaft support from the stator housing, and then the anchor.
Remove the planetary gears 17 from the carrier. Remove the shaft 18 assembly with the drive 23, with the support 21 and the gear 19 from the cover 1. Remove the sealing gasket 2 and the bracket 3 of the lever from the lever.
To remove the drive from the shaft, remove the circlip 25 located under the restrictive ring 24. Then, by removing the circlip 22, you can remove the support 21 of the drive shaft, the sealing ring 20 and the gear 19.
To disassemble the traction relay, unscrew the screws securing its cover and unsolder the winding leads from the plug «50» and from the tire fixed on the lower contact bolt of the traction relay.
After disassembly, blow out the starter parts (except for gearbox parts) compressed air and wipe.
The starter is assembled in the reverse order of disassembly.
Before assembly, lubricate the drive gear, the screw splines of the drive shaft and the liners of the covers and shaft supports with engine oil. Lubricate the gearbox gears with Litol-24 grease.
