Removing the vehicle speed sensor

We remove the vehicle speed sensor for inspection and replacement, as well as when repairing the gearbox. Checking the vehicle speed sensor is shown in the section Troubleshooting. Access to the sensor is from the top of the engine compartment.



Location of the speed sensor

With the ignition off..



... by depressing the retainer of the engine management wiring harness block..



... disconnect the wiring harness block from the speed sensor.



With the "27" head, turn off the speed sensor counterclockwise..



... and take out the speed sensor.

Install the speed sensor in reverse order.



In this case, the shank of the sensor must enter the hole in the drive shaft.
