Heating, ventilation and air conditioning control unit: 1 - air conditioner switch; 2 - air temperature controller; 3 - control lever for air recirculation mode; 4 - fan operation mode switch; 5 - air flow distribution regulator
The intensity of the air supply to the passenger compartment is adjustable by turning the handle of the fan operation mode switch (with the ignition on).
This turns on one of the four fan speeds. Turning the switch knob clockwise increases the fan speed. The flow distribution regulator sets the following air flow directions in the passenger compartment:
- to the area where the head is located. The air flow through the deflectors in the instrument panel enters the upper part of the car;
- to the area of the legs and head. The air flow enters through the deflectors into the upper part of the car interior and through the lower ventilation openings into the driver's and front passenger's footwells;
- to the leg area. The air flow enters through the lower ventilation openings only in the area of \u200b\u200bthe location of the legs of the driver and front passenger;
- in the foot area and on blowing the windshield and front door windows. The air flow enters through the lower vents into the footwell area, as well as to the windshield and front door windows;
- for blowing the windshield and front door windows. The airflow is only directed to the windshield and front door windshields.
By turning the handle of the air temperature regulator, we change the temperature of the air entering the passenger compartment. To increase the air temperature, turn the regulator knob clockwise, to the red sector of the scale, and to decrease the air temperature, turn it counterclockwise, to the blue sector. To enter the outside air into the cabin, move the air recirculation control lever to the leftmost position.
To turn on the air recirculation mode, move the control lever to the extreme right position.
Air recirculation mode (cutting off the supply of outside air to the cabin) it is recommended to use when you need to quickly reduce or increase the air temperature in the cabin, as well as when driving in dusty areas or in heavy traffic, to avoid dust or exhaust gases entering the cabin.
Use the recirculation mode with the door windows up. It is not recommended to use the recirculation mode for a long time, as this can lead to an increase in air humidity in the cabin and fogging of the windows.
Air can enter the cabin through the central or side vents of the ventilation, heating and air conditioning system.
To protect the windshield and door glass from fogging in the warm season, it is enough to send cold air to them. For this you need:
- use the flow distribution regulator to direct air through the upper grille for blowing the windshield and the grille for blowing the windows of the front doors;
- move the air recirculation control lever to the extreme left position;
- turn the temperature control knob to the blue sector;
- turn on the appropriate fan mode.
To clean the windshield from ice and snow, as well as to free the wipers frozen to it after a long parking of the car, turn on the engine and direct the air flow onto the glass by moving the air temperature control knob to the red sector and turning on the required fan operation mode. As the engine warms up, the temperature of the air directed to the windshield will increase gradually. This defrosting mode will avoid the formation of cracks on the windshield. After thawing the glass, use the air flow distribution regulator to select the desired direction of air supply to the passenger compartment.
To speed up the warm-up of the interior when the car is stationary, it is recommended to turn on the recirculation mode, and turn it off when driving.
Using the air conditioner
To turn on the air conditioner, press the switch button «A/C» with the engine running, while the fan operation mode switch must be moved from the position «OFF» in one of its four positions. When the air conditioner is turned on, the indicator in the button lights up. Press the button again to turn off the air conditioner.
On long hills or in heavy urban traffic, the operation of the air conditioner can cause the engine to overheat. Therefore, if the temperature of the coolant exceeds the permissible value, the air conditioner should be turned off.
If the car is parked in direct sunlight, open the windows and ventilate the interior before turning on the air conditioner.
To avoid fogging up the windows in rainy weather, turn on the air conditioner and set the air distribution control to the position, while it is recommended to set the air temperature control at the border of the blue and red zones. If there is no need to turn on the air conditioner, then it must be turned on once a week, for several minutes, even in the winter period of operation at low negative temperatures. This helps retain lubricant on compressor parts and seals, which extends the life of the A/C system.
During prolonged parking in the sun in hot weather, the air temperature in the cabin is much higher than the outside. To quickly cool the passenger compartment, it is necessary to open the doors for a while so that hot air comes out. Then start the engine, turn on the air conditioner in the maximum cooling mode and close the doors. The flow of cooling air is best directed upwards and never towards the face. This can cause colds and inflammation of the facial nerves.
After the car has been parked for a long time in hot weather in the sun, when turning on the air conditioner, do not direct the flow of cold air to the windshield to avoid cracking.
The maximum interior cooling mode is recommended to be used in hot weather or after a long parking of the car in the sun. This mode is implemented as follows.
Air recirculation mode is on. The air flow distribution regulator has been moved to one of its positions; the air temperature regulator is turned to the extreme position counterclockwise; fan operation mode switch - to position «4»; air conditioning is on.
