Chevrolet Lanos - small car (B-segment according to the European classification) manufacturer Daewoo from South Korea, which from 1997 to 2002 was produced under the name Daewoo Lanos, and after Daewoo entered the General Motors concern on April 30, 2002, the car began to be produced under the Chevrolet brand. Daewoo Lanos was designed to replace Daewoo Nexia. At the time of its release, the main competitors were Ford Fiesta, Honda Jazz, Hyundai Accent, Kia Rio, Lada Kalina, Mitsubishi Colt, Nissan Sunny, Peugeot 208, Renault Logan, Skoda Rapid, SEAT Ibiza, Toyota Yaris and Volkswagen Polo.
The body was designed by Italian designer Giorgetto Giugiaro and was originally presented in three body styles - three-door and five-door hatchbacks and a four-door sedan. A panel van version was also introduced in 2006. The code designation of the body at launch is T100, after the update in 1999, the body began to be designated with the code T150. The engine is located at the front with front-wheel drive.

The safety of the car is not at a high level. In entry level trim (S) no airbag. Inertial diagonal seat belts are installed for all passengers, except for the rear middle one, there is only a lap belt. Euro NCAP crash tests in 1998 gave the car a low rating - three incomplete stars. In 2006, they also conducted a crash test using the ARCAP methodology, which rated the car with only two out of four stars. The results are quite low, although in this price category above average.
1.5 liter engine (86 hp) developed on the basis of the motor from Nexia with the same displacement, but with some design improvements in the power supply and ignition systems. To reduce exhaust toxicity in order to comply with Euro-2 standards, the engine is equipped with a recirculation system and a catalytic converter. 1.6 liter engine 16-valve (106 HP), which made it more powerful and economical.
A wide variety of Lanos clones around the world also have motors of other modifications. For example, on ZAZ models, carburetor engines with a volume of 1.3 liters with a capacity of 63 hp are installed, as well as injection engines with volumes of 1.3 and 1.4 liters with a capacity of 70 and 77 hp. respectively.
There were two transmission options - 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic (GM 4T40E or ZF 4HP16).
