Location of the sensor on the engine (for clarity, shown on the engine removed from the car): 1 - intake manifold bracket; 2 - inlet pipe of the coolant pump; 3 - adsorber purge valve; 4 - cylinder head; 5 - coolant temperature sensor; 6 - generator
Drain the engine coolant (see Coolant replacement). Due to the fact that the sensor is located in a hard-to-reach place, we show the operations for dismantling it with the inlet pipeline removed.
With the ignition off, depress the latch of the wiring harness block of the engine management system..
... and disconnect the wiring harness block from the sensor.
With a high "19" head, we turn the sensor out of the cylinder head.
The connection between the sensor and the cylinder head is sealed with a soft metal washer.
If the washer is damaged (heavy wear, deformation) we replace it with a new one.
Install the coolant temperature sensor in reverse order. Tighten the temperature sensor to the prescribed torque. Fill the engine with coolant.
