We remove the phase sensor to check or replace it, as well as when repairing the cylinder head.
Removing the engine cover (see Checking the condition and replacing spark plugs) and front upper timing cover (see Checking the condition and replacing the timing belt).
The phase sensor mounting bolts are in a hard-to-reach place and it is highly likely that when unscrewing them, they will drop inward between the rear and lower front covers of the timing drive. Therefore, in the area of \u200b\u200bthe bolts, we close the gaps between the covers with rags.
With a "10" head with an extension, we unscrew the two bolts securing the phase sensor to the cylinder head...... and remove the bolts.
We take out the sensor assembly with the wiring harness block.
By pressing the spring clip, disconnect the wiring harness block from the sensor.
Install the phase sensor in reverse order.
