Check the pressure in the fuel supply system (see «Checking the pressure in the engine power system»).
If the fuel pump fails, the fuel module is replaced as an assembly.
This subsection shows the process of removing the fuel module, followed by the removal of the fuel level sensor and fuel pressure regulator.
You will need: flat-blade screwdriver, container to drain the fuel from the fuel pump module, hammer, wrench «at 14».
1. Reduce the pressure in the supply system (see «Decrease in pressure in the power supply system for engines»).
2. Disconnect the wire from the terminal «minus» battery.
3. Remove the fuel tank (see «Fuel tank replacement»).
4. Slide the wire harness retainer...
5.... and disconnect the block from the fuel pump module.
6. Squeezing the plastic retainer...
7.... disconnect the high pressure fuel line tip from the module fitting.
8. Turn the pressure ring of the fuel pump module counterclockwise until the grooves in the ring match the protrusions of the fuel tank flange...
9.... and remove the ring.
10. Carefully remove the module and drain the fuel from it into a previously prepared container.
For the correct installation of the fuel module, a mark is applied on the fuel tank, which, when re-installed, must coincide with the hole on the fuel module cover.
11. Remove the o-ring and inspect it. Be sure to replace the ring if it is torn or severely compressed.
12. While pressing the latch, disconnect the fuel level sensor wiring harness from the fuel module connector.
13. Having pressed the latches...
14.... remove the fuel level sensor from the fuel module cup holder.
15, Disconnect the fuel gauge wire lugs from the connectors on the rails...
16.... and remove the fuel level sensor.
17. Disconnect the wire tip from the fuel pressure regulator.
18. Pry off the retainer with a screwdriver...
19.... and remove the fuel pressure regulator.
20. While pressing the latch, disconnect the fuel pump wiring harness from the fuel module connector.
21. Assemble and install the fuel module in the reverse order of disassembly and removal.
22. After installing the fuel module, start the engine and check the tightness of the connection to the fuel line module.
