During each maintenance and repair, it is imperative to check the condition of the protective covers of the ball bearings of the suspension, paying attention to the absence of mechanical damage to the covers.
Check the suspension parts for cracks or signs of rubbing against road obstacles or the bodywork. Pay attention to the presence of deformations of the levers, the stabilizer bar and its struts, the parts of the front end of the body in the places where the nodes and suspension parts are attached.
On rubber suspension parts are not allowed:
- signs of rubber aging;
- mechanical damage.
Pay special attention to mechanical damage (deformations, cracks, traces of rubbing against road obstacles, etc.) suspension components, especially control arms.
1. In a motor compartment remove a cap of a nut of the top fastening of a rack.
2. Check up an inhaling of a nut of fastening of a rod of a shock-absorber rack.
3. Check up a condition of protective covers of spherical support. If the boots are damaged, replace the front suspension arm assembly.
4. Check the ball joints for play. To do this, insert the mounting blade between the steering knuckle and the suspension arm and, leaning on the lever, try to shake the steering knuckle.
5. With ball bearings in good condition, while shaking the wheels in a vertical plane, make sure that there are no play in the bearings. If there is play, replace the bearings.
6. Check for lack of play hinges in the places where the lever is attached to the subframe, to do this, insert a mounting spatula or a large screwdriver into the gap between the front end of the lever and the subframe and try to shake the lever.
7. Similarly check up a back hinge. If there is significant play even in one of the hinges, replace the front suspension arm assembly.
8. Check up reliability of an inhaling of nuts of fingers of the lower spherical hinges of racks of the stabilizer.
9. Check up reliability of an inhaling of nuts of fingers of the top spherical hinges of racks of the stabilizer.
10. Check up backlashes in spherical hinges of racks of the anti-roll bar. Racks, the hinges of which have a noticeable play, need to be replaced.
11. Check the condition of the rubber pads securing the stabilizer bar to the subframe.
12. Check up a condition of a protective cover of a shock-absorber rack. Raise the boot and check the shock absorber rod. Fluid leaks along the stem are not allowed.
