Removing and installing the brake pedal

The brake pedal is removed to replace its axle or the pedal itself in the event of a breakdown or increased play, for lubrication in the event of a squeak, jamming, and also to replace the return spring if it is damaged.

Note: The throttle pedal is mounted on the same bracket as the brake pedal.

You will need: socket head «at 17», flat blade screwdriver.



1. In the passenger compartment under the instrument panel, disconnect the pusher rod of the vacuum booster from the pedal.



2. Pull out the latch.



3.... and disconnect the wiring harness connector from the brake light switch.



4. Turn out a bolt of fastening.



5.... and remove the brake light switch.



6. Pry with a screwdriver.



7.... and remove the brake pedal axle lock.

8. Take an axis from an aperture of a pedal and an arm, remove a pedal.

9. Inspect the brake pedal. If defects are found, replace the pedal with a new one.

10. Install the brake pedal and all removed parts in the reverse order of removal. When installing, make sure that the booster rod is securely fixed in the pedal stop.
