Withdrawal procedure
1. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal.
2. Remove console. See Section 9G, Interior lining.
3. Remove shift cable adjusters (1).
4. Remove shift control cables (2) from the shift lever housing bracket.
5. Disconnect the shift control cables from the shift control controls.
6. Remove shift control cables (1) from the transaxle assembly using a suitable tool.
7. Remove cables (2) from the shift control cable bracket.
8. Remove the grommet from the dashboard.
9. Remove shift control cables from vehicle.
Installation order
1. Install the shift control cables to the vehicle.
2. Install the grommet to the dashboard.
Important: Make sure the shift control cable grommet is properly seated and that the arrow on the grommet is pointing up.
3. Install cables (2) into the shift cable bracket.
4. Install cables (1) shift control to the transaxle with final drive assembly.
5. Move the gearbox with final drive assembly to the position corresponding to neutral gear.
6. Connect shifter cables to shift control controls.
7. Install the shift control cables to the shift lever housing bracket.
8. Move the gear lever to the neutral position.
9. Without pulling the ends of the shift cables out of the adjuster, adjust the cables by pressing on the neutral lock pin. Slightly move the shift lever to center the neutral lock pin.
10. Push in and lock the shift cable adjusters.
11. Retract the neutral lock pin to its original position.
12. Install the console. See Section 9G, Interior lining.
13. Connect the wire to the negative terminal of the battery.
