Adjustment Procedure
1. Move the shift lever to the N position (NEUTRAL).
Important: The shift control cable must be disconnected from the AT shift lever before it can be disconnected from the control cable bracket. Otherwise, the manual shift shaft may be damaged, requiring the transaxle to be disassembled.
2. Disconnect the shift cable from the range selector lever.
3. Disconnect the shift drive cable from the control cable bracket by depressing the tabs on the control cable retaining clamp and pulling it up. Throw out the clamp.
4. Release the shift control cable adjustment retainer assembly.
5. Move the black tab back.
6. Insert a screwdriver into the slot under the white tab and pull up on the white tab.
7. Install the shift control cable into the shift control cable bracket. Install a new shift control cable retaining clip. You will hear a click when installed correctly.
8. By setting the automatic transmission range selector lever to neutral (N), snap the cable end connection onto the ball stud on the AT shift lever. You will hear a click when installed correctly.
9. Lock the control cable adjustment lug.
10. Push in the white tab, securing it in place.
11. Slide the black tab over the white tab and lock in place.
12. Verify correct operation.
