Necessary equipment
- J-28585 Retaining Ring Remover
- J-23327 Clutch Spring Remover
- J-25024-A Clutch Spring / Booster Piston Puller
- J-45186 Forward and Direct Clutch Spring Remover
1. Remove flange, disc and underdrive clutch plate (C3).
- Remove retaining ring with a screwdriver.
- Remove 1 flange, 4 discs and 4 plates.
Important: Be careful not to damage the sun wheel of the front underdrive planetary gear set.
2. Remove the return spring assembly of the underdrive clutch (C3).
- Place J-25024-A in a vise with the pressure bolt at the bottom and back.
- Install J-45186 on the underdrive clutch return spring assembly (C3).
- Place J-21420-2 from J-23327 on top of J-25024-A push bolt.
- Place the clutch housing with J-45186 on J-21420-2 and under the shoulders of J-25024-A.
- Compress the clutch spring with a pressure bolt so that the retaining ring can be removed.
- Using J-28585 or circlip pliers, remove the circlip.
- Remove return spring assembly.
Attention! Protective goggles should be worn when working with compressed air to prevent injury to the eyes.
3. Remove the underdrive clutch piston (C3).
- Close any 2 holes of the 4 holes of the channel for lubrication of the underdrive clutch with your fingers (C3). Apply compressed air (4 kg/cm?) in any 1 hole and remove piston C3.
- Remove O-rings from piston C3.
