Necessary equipment
- J-23327 Clutch Spring Remover
- J-28585 Retaining Ring Remover
- J-41236 Inertia clutch spring puller
- J-45164 Spring Puller Bridge
1. Remove the thrust bearing race.
2. Remove the flange, disc and plate of the 2nd inertia brake (B1).
- Using J-45164, J-21420-2, and J-23327-2, which is part of J-23327, compress the spring.
- Using J-28585, remove the circlip from the oil pump assembly.
- Remove 1 flange, 2 discs, 2 plates. For HFV6 3.2L or 2.0S Diesel remove 1 flange, 3 discs and 3 plates.
3. Remove the brake piston return spring.
- Install J-21420-2 and J-23327-2, which is part of J-23327, and J-41236, and compress the spring.
- Using circlip pliers, remove the circlip.
- Remove the return spring assembly from the oil pump assembly.
Attention! Protective goggles should be worn when working with compressed air to prevent injury to the eyes.
4. Remove the 2nd gear inertia brake piston (B1).
- By pressing the piston by hand, apply compressed air (4 kg/cm2) into the lubrication channel as shown in the figure and remove piston B1.
Important: Be careful not to damage the O-ring and piston.
- Remove o-rings from piston.
5. Remove flange, disc and 2nd brake plate (B2).
- Remove retaining ring with a screwdriver.
- Remove 2 flanges, 3 discs, 2 plates. For HFV6 3.2L or 2.0S Diesel remove 1 flange, 4 discs and 4 plates.
- Remove return spring assembly.
- Remove retaining ring.
Important: Be careful not to damage the oil pump cover and piston B2.
Attention! Protective goggles should be worn when working with compressed air to prevent injury to the eyes.
6. Remove 2nd brake piston (B2).
- By pressing the piston by hand, apply compressed air (4 kg/cm?) into the lubrication channel as shown in the figure and remove piston B2.
Important: Be careful not to damage the oil pump cover and piston.
- Remove o-rings from piston.
