J-35582 Oil pump seal installer
1. Install the seal.
- Lubricate the inside surface of the oil pump housing with automatic transmission fluid.
- Drive in a new oil seal using J-35582. The end face of the stuffing box must be flush with the outer edge of the pump housing.
2. Install the oil pump inner and outer gears.
- Lubricate the surface of the oil pump housing with automatic transmission fluid.
- Install the drive and driven gears into the oil pump housing.
3. Install the oil pump plate.
- Lubricate the new O-ring with automatic transmission fluid and install it in the oil pump housing.
- Align the hole in the oil pump plate with the dowel pin on the oil pump housing.
4. Install the oil pump cover.
- Align the oil pump cover with each bolt hole on the oil pump housing and temporarily tighten the 14 Torx bolts.
- Tighten 14 Torx bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the oil pump cover bolt (14 mm) torque 12 Nm (106 lb-in).
Tighten the oil pump cover bolt (17 mm) torque 7 Nm (62 lb-in).
5. Check the rotation of the oil pump drive gear.
- Make sure that the drive gear rotates smoothly after being installed on the torque converter.
Important: Be careful not to damage the seal lip.
