Removal procedure
1. Remove the gasket and nuts securing the front muffler pipe to the underbody catalytic converter (UCC).
2. Remove the gaskets and nuts securing both rear muffler pipe flanges.
3. Disconnect the front muffler from the rubber suspensions.
4. Remove the front muffler.
5. Inspect the underbody catalytic converter and front muffler for holes, damage, open seams, or other imperfections that could allow exhaust fumes to enter the trunk or passenger compartment.
Installation procedure
1. Attach the front muffler to the rubber hangers.
2. Install nuts and gaskets on both rear muffler pipe flanges.
Tighten
Tighten the nuts securing the front silencer to the rear silencer to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
3. Install the gasket and tighten the nuts securing the front muffler pipe to the catalytic converter located on the bottom (UCC).
Tighten
Tighten the nuts securing the front muffler to the underbody catalytic converter to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).
