Removal procedure
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the front exhaust pipe. See «Silencer intake pipe» in this section.
3. Remove the nuts securing the upper flange of the bank 2 catalytic converter to the bank 2 exhaust manifold (3 positions).
Important: Nuts and threaded stud may come off completely due to high exhaust manifold temperature, but they can be replaced.
4. Remove bank 2 catalytic converter and gasket.
5. Remove the nuts securing the upper flange of the bank 1 catalytic converter to the exhaust manifold of bank 1 (2 items).

6. Remove bank 1 catalytic converter and gasket.
7. Clean the sealing surfaces on the exhaust pipe and both exhaust manifolds.
8. Check the muffler downpipe and both exhaust manifolds for holes, damage, open seams, or other defects that could allow exhaust gases to enter the passenger compartment.
Installation procedure
1. Install the gasket and nuts from bank 2 catalytic converter upper flange to bank 2 exhaust manifold (3 items).
Tighten
Tighten the nuts of the upper flange of the catalytic converter bank 2 to a torque of 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
2. Install the gasket and nuts from the upper flange of the bank 1 catalytic converter to the bank 1 exhaust manifold (2 items).
Tighten
Tighten the upper flange nuts for bank 1 catalytic converter to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
3. Install the front exhaust pipe. See «Silencer intake pipe» in this section.
Tighten
Tighten the nuts securing the catalytic converter to the exhaust pipe of the muffler to a torque of 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
