Removal procedure
1. Let the engine cool down to ambient temperature (less than 50°C), then remove the coolant filler cap.
2. Drain the coolant. follow the paragraph «Draining and recharging the cooling system» in this section.
3. Loosen the water pump pulley bolts.
4. Remove the auxiliary drive belt. See Part 1C2, Engine Mechanical - - HFV6 3.2L
5. Unscrew the bolts to the end (1) fastening the water pump pulley, then remove the pulley (2) from the hub (3).
6. Remove the water pump (1) from the front cover of the engine.
7. Remove gasket (2) water pump to the front cover and discard.
Inspection and cleaning procedure
1. Turn the hub (1) water pump. Hub and impeller (2) should turn smoothly and smoothly. If you feel wobble, excessive noise or uneven movement when the hub rotates, replace the water pump.
2. Check the water pump from the outside for the following conditions:
Damage to the threads of the water pump hub bolts for the water pump pulley.
Damaged water pump bolt holes.
3. Check the water pump shaft (3) and drainage hole (4) in the water pump housing (5) for signs of leaks. If there are obvious signs of leaks, replace the water pump.
4. Check the water pump inside for the following conditions:
Surface damage (6) sealing flange - water pump gaskets.
Damaged, corroded or restricted water pump impeller.
Damaged, corroded or restricted coolant passages (7).
5. Replace water pump if necessary.
Installation procedure
1. Install gasket (2) water pump to the front cover.
2. Install water pump (1) on the front cover of the engine.
Tighten
Tighten the water pump mounting bolts to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
3. Install the water pump pulley.
Tighten
Tighten the water pump pulley bolts to 12 Nm (106 lb-in).
4. Install the auxiliary drive belt. See Part 1C2, Engine Mechanical - - HFV6 3.2L
5. Refill the engine cooling system. follow the paragraph «Draining and recharging the cooling system» in this section.
