Removal procedure
Attention! To prevent personal injury, do not remove the expansion tank cap on a hot engine and radiator as the heat pressurizes the system. Hot liquid and steam can escape under high pressure.
1. Drain the engine coolant to the level of the expansion tank.
Note: Do not drain the power steering fluid at this stage.
2. Remove the power steering fluid reservoir bolts and move the reservoir away from the expansion tank. See Section 6A, Power Steering System.
3. Loosen the return hose clamp and disconnect the return hose from the expansion tank top.
4. Loosen the throttle body hose clamp and disconnect the throttle body hose from the top of the expansion tank.
5. Loosen the supply hose clamp and disconnect the supply hose from the bottom of the expansion tank.
6. Remove the expansion tank connecting screw and nut.
7. Remove the expansion tank.
8. Wash the expansion tank inside and out and the expansion tank cap with soap and water.
9. Rinse the expansion tank and plug thoroughly.
Installation procedure
1. Install the expansion tank.
2. Fix the expansion tank with a connecting screw with a nut.
Tighten
Tighten the locking screw and expansion tank nut to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).
3. Connect the return hose and throttle body hose to the top of the expansion tank.
4. Connect the supply hose to the bottom of the expansion tank.
5. Secure return hose, throttle body hose and supply hose to expansion tank with hose clamps.
6. Fill the expansion tank with coolant up to the center mark or the MAX mark.
