Thermostat check
1. Remove the thermostat from the car. follow the paragraph «Thermostat» in this section.
2. Make sure the valve springs are compressed when the thermostat is fully closed. If the spring is not compressed, replace the thermostat.
3. Hang the thermostat and thermometer in a pan containing a 50/50 mixture of silicate-based coolant/Dex-cool and water. Do not allow the thermostat and thermometer to be at the bottom of the tray, because uneven heat concentration at the bottom may affect the correct temperature measurement.
4. Heat up the pan with a burner.
5. Use a thermometer to measure the temperature of the heated solution.
6. The thermostat should start opening at 82°C (179,6°F) and must be fully open at 95°C (203°F). If the thermostat does not open at these temperatures, replace the thermostat.
